Knowing the cardinal directions is very helpful for orientation during surveying work (setting out). The NCC-1 compass is attached to the prism or GNSS pole with the practical double-C clamp and reliably indicates the cardinal directions.
The clamping unit also has a circular vial. This can be attached to a prism or GNSS pole at any height, as field computers attached to the pole often block the view of the pole vial.
The clamping unit can be easily rotated so that either the vial or the compass can be used. This makes the clamping unit a useful tool for all surveying work in the field.
